INTERNATIONAL RIESLING FOUNDATION
Jordan ON, Sept. 23, 2009 … Cave Spring Cellars is a proud founding member of the recently formed International Riesling Foundation (IRF). The IRF is a private, not-for-profit association created to increase awareness, understanding, and appreciation of Riesling wines. Established in 2007 at the first Riesling Rendezvous symposium held in Woodinville, Washington State, the IRF represents the alliance of the most renowned Riesling producers in the world.
Cave Spring founder and president, Leonard Pennachetti, serves on the Board of Directors of the IRF. Appointed to the Board in 2007, he is the only director from the province of Ontario and one of only two board members from Canada. Directors that serve with Len represent a cross-section of the most prestigious wineries in the world including Germany’s Schloss Johannisberg and Weingut St. Urbans-Hof, Washington State’s Chateau Ste. Michelle, Grosset Wines of Australia, Austria’s Weingut Hirsch, J. Lohr of California, Chehalem Winery in Oregon, South Africa’s De Rust Estate, and New Zealand’s Neudorf Vineyards.
The Riesling Rendezvous symposium features three days of wine tastings, seminars and roundtable discussions involving leading winegrowers from around the globe. The bi-annual event attracts Riesling lovers from the wine trade, media, and general public. Cave Spring Cellars is proud to have been selected to participate in all Riesling Rendezvous events to date, including the next symposium scheduled for July 11-13, 2010.
